I challenge you.

Send me any of the problems which humanity faces, and I will post in my reply a workable solution high up the scale of absolutely ideal. Your challenge is to come up with a better solution that is more ideal in some sense (easier to implement, lower cost, less environmental impact, greater participatation, greater load sharing, less displacement of other interests, greater harmonisation between differences such as religions etc etc (all the other things that go to defining something as slightly better rather than slightly worse..slightly more likley to succeed as against slightly more likley to fail and ultimately judged on the grounds of whether it opens up greater future possibilities or not..if a tied disagreement situation arises).

I challenge myself by stating to you that I will imagine a solution for EVERY problem you post in this reply based on my own highest standards of virtue and excellence (ie I could live with it myself)..YOUR CHALLENGE is to imagine a solution that is better..but please give me the right of reply to adjust my answer..I shall do the same for you..

Now before you dismiss this as a silly post imagine the possibilities if more than a few people participate..with everybody pursuing the most ideal solution..

For me this represents the board on which the greatest human challenge can be played out upon. For it is here as a simple man I am asked to accept the challenges of humanity. There will almost certainly be some challenge I cannot overcome and find a path to its solution..but hopefully someone will stand in on my behalf if I should begin to falter lol

Lets work this like a game of chess. You submit to me any global problem (leave poverty for now for I believe it shall now be solved of its own volition). I shall reply with an answer within one week (or fail the test and drop out of the challenge). I can only be saved and kept in the competition if someone saves me with a solution on my behalf. You will then have a maximum of one week to come up with a better idea. If it is better (we need a TIG project that allows "watchers" to vote on the two choices) I shall then have one week to improve my submission..this may include parts of my original answer and also parts of yours to compile a more ideal solution..you may do the same until a reply answer fails. Each player shall have one second chance ie put your answer to the test..it fails at the vote..so you can resubmit once.

So..is there anyone out there who is prepared to accept the challenge ?

If there is then let me know..we will see if anyone here at TIG can set up a kind of forum link that makes the state of play easier to follow. Who knows maybe even some world leaders will put their best solutions on the line and to the test once we have gotten ourselves organised.

cheers

ok i'll take your challenge. Can you find a solution or come up with an idea that can make people good and sinless. coz i think this is the ultimate problem for the human kind from which all other problems stem. Let me remind you that you are the one who offered the idea of the challenge but what you haven't done is saying what would happen if you failed to come up with something.

Terrorism
This is the big one in news today. How do we stop madmen from blowing up tube stations and crashing planes into buildings? Is this a social, cultural, economic, political, psychological or spiritual problem? Is it a problem, if one takes the definiton that a problem is something to be solved, or is it a unchanging, constant and inevitable part of humanity's rich tapestry?

First to dinabedawey.
The implied problem is that people are not good ..is this the problem or is the problem what these people are allowed to do ? In answer to your question if I am standing here as a kind of symbolic representation of humanity seeking to overcome every challenge (even if I am doing it alone instead of united with you..which I would prefer for both of our sakes) then all it will do is prove that we cant solve the problems we have created for ourselves and we must live with our own ineptitude..surely that is consequence enough ? On the other hand if the project works and very good and advanced solutions are created by people with a high sense of creativity/spirituality/genuis/reason/balance and virtue then these solutions can be held up to our present leaders in order that they may explain how and why their present solution is better and what are the reasons for not implementing some that we develop which I would arguably hope are somewhat better. I realised a long time ago that politicians arent elected on the basis of intelligence and almost none of them speak the literal truth. If you want to begin to resolve the problem of good and evil then begin to make sure that every statement is literally the truth and you will, I think, find solid ground upon which to build a new reality. Thats not my answer..for I have a week to complete it..but that will be part of it.

Secondly for Mikef..terrorism..tough one..firts thing I would need to know is what has upset the people who claim ownership of the the acts you dispise..people dont organise these things for random reasons..I think it would be time to ask the so called terrorists to explain exactly what they are pissed off about and make it public knowledge..trying to fight it without knowing the honest reasons why is like shooting at shadows. I will give my best solution to this in 2 weeks (one per week is surely enough)..then we will see if anyone comes up with a better solution that can knock it off by being better.

I think at the end of the day if this project succeeds we should end up at the point (considering that potentially the input of every internet user could be competing here on equal footing..with the first solution then taking on all challengers)where we have to start implementing the absolute best and most ideal solutions we can come up with to give us some sort of fighting chance of creating a future free from the issues that are stoppong us as a species from reaching our potential.

Good and Sinless : Day 1
To say that people should be made good seems to me to contain a false premiss. Better I think to create a situation where people are allowed to be better than they presently are simultaneously created by raising the standard of acceptability..not in regard to crime but in relation to honesty and the value of a mans word. There was once a time when a mans word would be enough to commit his soul..it was something that you never broke because to be known as a man who broke his word was like breaking the greatest of unwritten sins. It meant that you could not be trusted or relied upon in times of hardship. As I sit hit I know that I am on thin ice, for I have said that I will attempt to come up with the most ideal solution for what you consider to be the ultimate problem. This of course leaves me in a difficult position.

Heres an idea
When every person reaches the age of 65 an auditor comes in and assesses the total volume of their assets, converts this back to the total volume of natural resources consumed to produce them (one tonne of copy paper requires 92 tonnes of other resources to create) and their children are handed bill to pay expressed in terms of trees which must be replanted. If the parents feel uncomfortable about the debt they are leaving to their children maybe they can spend their retirement years planting trees instead of tearing them down as they have inadvertantly done throughout the entire course of their lives in order to get where they are..robbing their children as they went. Too harsh ? How elsecan you ensure perpetuity of the environment but to ensure that each generation leaves it in, as close as possible, to the same condition they found it in ?
